'We need to take our next step if we're going to grow' The new venture will incorporate a New York-style industrial aesthetic Adam Lunt, owner of Spitroast (Image: Andrew Teebay Liverpool Echo ) A new venue is combining atmospheric cocktail evenings with affordable comfort food. The team behind chicken restaurant business Spitroast is in the final stages of opening its first bar. Spitroast has enjoyed more than a decade of success across the region thanks to owner and founder Adam Lunt. They have restaurants on Smithdown Road, Liverpool and in Crosby. The new venture, named Sin City Social will move into the unit previously occupied by Shake? on Smithdown Road. ‌ Spitroast founder Adam Lunt told the ECHO: "The entire industry is struggling so in order to continue growing the business you have to keep teams motivated. I saw an opportunity to do something completely unique but still a part of us. ‌ "Shake? was a great business but it was mostly a takeaway with all of this unused restaurant space. "I'm excited to get in there and make the most of everything we have at our disposal." Sin City Social will offer guests "high-end burgers" alongside "cool cocktails and live music". Adam is intent on keeping the experience affordable, with the bill "averaging below £20 per head". I want it to be dark and moody and a place to go for cocktails in the evening or burgers during the day. It will be a really cool mix of aesthetics." The restaurant cocktail bar is set to open on Thursday, May 8. The sister Spitroast sites will continue to operate autonomously in their respective areas. ‌ Adam launched Spitroast on Smithdown Road in 2014. It wasn't long before he and the team were seeing customers flock to the venue as word spread. He said: "A lot of our early success was word of mouth. Spitroast wasn't a huge venue or even a destination restaurant. We were focused entirely on delivering affordable food that people enjoyed. I worked there for 18 months as the manager and a chef with a really great team. It was fun but a lot of work." The Crosby site didn't reinvent the wheel - it simply gave customers a second location to visit. In 2019, Adam launched Sptiroast's third site in Ormskirk but this would be severely impacted as a result of the Coronavirus. The venue closed in 2023 with staff relocating to other sites if they were capable of travelling.
