Fried eggs will be tastier and full of flavour when cooked with one simple ingredient There is a simple method to add much more flavour to a fried egg and make it taste so much better with this quick cooking technique Fried eggs will be tastier and packed with flavour if cooked with 1 simple ingredient (Image: (Image: Katherine McPhillips) ) Fried eggs are a classic component of any breakfast and their simplicity makes them a go-to choice. However, they can sometimes lack flavour if not prepared correctly. Fried eggs often fall short in terms of taste, despite their appealing texture. Recently, while preparing avocado on toast for lunch, I felt the need to incorporate more protein into my meal. This led me to explore ways to take the taste of fried eggs to the next level. After some research, I stumbled upon a method that infuses a richer, smokier flavour into your fried eggs. The secret ingredient? Avocado oil. There is a cooking technique known as blooming: heating oil before adding seasoning to the frying pan, rather than directly to the egg. When you crack your egg into the hot, seasoned oil, the flavours seep into the raw egg whites, creating a tastier, smokier egg than you'd typically have. I opted for avocado oil due to its high smoke point, allowing it to withstand high cooking temperatures without burning. This prevents the seasoning from sticking to the pan. Moreover, avocado oil has a neutral taste, ensuring it doesn't overpower the egg or seasoning. The result is a delicious egg without any bitterness. I decided to add a sprinkle of grated cheese and a slice of ham to my sandwich for an extra flavour kick. I opted for a thick slice of bread from a loaf I'd picked up at Tesco to create my avocado toast. It was too large for the toaster, so I warmed each side in my frying pan before introducing any oil. While the bread was toasting, I scooped out the avocado and grated some cheese. Once the toast was ready, I spread the creamy avocado onto it, layered on a slice of ham, and finished with a sprinkle of cheese. For the fried egg, I started by heating avocado oil until it sizzled, then added a teaspoon of paprika for a hint of spice. After letting the seasoning cook for a minute, I cracked my egg into the pan. After 10 seconds, I gave the pan a shake to ensure the egg could move freely and wouldn't stick. To cook the top of the egg, I added a small splash of water and covered the pan with a lid. Once the egg was perfectly cooked, I placed it atop my avocado toast. Initially, I was concerned as the edges seemed charred, but upon tasting, I found the crispy edges added a delightful crunch.
