Precore Gold Corp. Appoints Louis Gariepy as Lead Technical Advisor
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 17, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Precore Gold Corp. (CSE: PRCG), a junior exploration company based in Canada, has announced the significant appointment of Mr. Louis Gariepy, P. Eng (OIQ), to its Advisory Board, where he will serve as the Lead Technical Advisor. With a robust career spanning over three decades in the mining industry, Mr. Gariepy brings a wealth of international experience, particularly from his extensive work in Qubec and Latin America.
Most recently, Mr. Gariepy held the position of Vice President, Exploration at O3 Mining Inc., where he played a pivotal role in developing the Marban Project. This project is recognized as a leading gold exploration initiative, currently showing the potential to support a satellite open-pit mining operation that would funnel its resources into the highly regarded Canadian Malartic mining operation located in Quebec. According to the companys 2022 Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA), the Marban Project is projected to contribute approximately 15,000 tons per day (tpd) and yield an average of around 130,000 ounces of gold per year over a nine-year period. The successful progression of O3 Mining culminated in its acquisition by Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd., one of Canadas largest mining firms, in March 2025.
Before his tenure at O3 Mining, Mr. Gariepy served as the Exploration Manager for Anglo American PLC in Peru from 2012 to 2018. During this time, he was influential in organizing and implementing exploration programs that advanced the Quellaveco property, which is now recognized as one of Peru's most significant copper deposits. His earlier experience also includes a role as Exploration Manager with IAMGOLD Corporation in Peru from 2005 to 2012, where he focused on gold deposits found in porphyry and epithermal systems, further solidifying his reputation in the sector. In addition, while working for Compaia Minera Milpo from 1999 to 2005, he was instrumental in developing the Cerro Lindo Volcanogenic Massive Sulfide (VMS) deposit, which earned him the prestigious Discovery of the Year Award in 2000 from the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers. Mr. Gariepys professional journey began in 1986 with Noranda Inc. in Quebec, where he began his exploration career.
Paul A. Dumas, Executive Chairman of Precore Gold, expressed his enthusiasm regarding Mr. Gariepy's appointment, stating, I am extremely pleased to welcome Mr. Gariepy to the Companys Advisory Board. We believe that Louis extensive experience in Latin America and Quebec, with industry leaders such as Anglo American, IAMGOLD, Compaia Minera Milpo, Noranda Inc., and most recently O3 Mining, will provide the Company with a wealth of knowledge and leadership as we continue to build our asset base. Mr. Gariepy has a proven track record with repeated successes in mineral discovery and development. We truly look forward to working with Louis and benefiting from his technical contributions to the Company.
