RuPauls Drag Race Season 17 Finale Crowns Onya Nurve as the Winner

The iconic drag competition series, RuPauls Drag Race, has officially crowned its 17th champion during an exhilarating finale that aired on Friday night. This season's competition, known for its fierce talent and dramatic moments, culminated in a spectacular event filled with dazzling performances and a surprise guest appearance from the legendary Liza Minnelli, who was honored with the 'Giving Us Lifetime Achievement' award.
Hosted by the incomparable RuPaul, the finale featured the four finalistsJewels Sparkles, Lexi Love, Onya Nurve, and Sam Starwho each took the stage to perform an original song that showcased their unique artistry and charisma. After a competitive first round, Jewels and Onya advanced to the ultimate showdown, where they lip-synced for the crown to Lady Gagas electrifying track Abracadabra from her latest album, Mayhem.
In a highly anticipated outcome, Onya Nurve emerged victorious, taking home the grand prize of $200,000 courtesy of TodayTix. RuPaul praised Onyas extraordinary performance throughout the season, stating, Time and time again, Onya Nurve delivered that something extra that made her our undisputed champion. The 14-time Emmy-winning host further expressed his pride in all the queens this season, saying, Condragulations to all the queens, and especially our finalists, for serving one of the most competitive seasons in Drag Race herstory!
Jewels Sparkles, the runner-up, received a consolation prize of $25,000, generously provided by Anastasia Beverly Hills. Meanwhile, Lexi Love and Sam Star each walked away with $10,000, recognizing their remarkable contributions to the season as well. Additionally, Crystal Envy was awarded the title of Miss Congeniality, along with a $10,000 prize from Olay Body, which also generously tipped the remaining Season 17 contestants $2,000 each for their participation.
During the finale, RuPaul performed the energetic number Good Luck and Dont F%k It Up, setting a lively tone as he presented Liza Minnelli with the prestigious 'Giving Us Lifetime Achievement' award. This accolade acknowledges Minnelli's significant contributions to the entertainment industry, celebrating her remarkable career, which has inspired countless artists over the decades.
