The development of Star Wars: Zero Company is a collaboration between Bit Reactor, the creative minds behind the game, and industry giants Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. Set to be launched in 2026, the game will be available on major platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The narrative is set in the waning days of the Clone Wars, placing players in the role of Hawks, a former Republic officer. Players will navigate through enemy territory with a diverse team of specialists, which includes unique characters such as a Clonetrooper, a Jedi Knight, and a Mandalorianall of whom have been created specifically for this game. According to Bit Reactor, the gameplay will involve a series of tactical operations and investigations that players must undertake, while also allowing for the development of a base of operations, where they can gather vital intelligence through a network of informants.
Customization seems to be a central feature of the game, as players will have the ability to adjust not only the appearance and combat class of the protagonist Hawks but also to personalize the recruited operatives. This includes a wide array of original Star Wars character classes and species. The allies that Hawks will command are referred to by Bit Reactor as Authored Characters, which players will be able to interact with and build strong relationships. These interactions are not just for show; they will enhance gameplay by unlocking combat synergies that can significantly impact battles.
In a press statement, Greg Foertsch, the creative director at Bit Reactor, shared insights on the development process, stating, Our vision for Star Wars: Zero Company is grounded in gameplay-design pillars that weave in the immersive Star Wars galaxy with engaging turn-based tactics gameplay. Its our aim to deliver a game with an original Star Wars story from the Clone Wars era that has meaningful outcomes from player choices, and deep turn-based tactical combat with an approachable and cinematic presentation.
