Birmingham factory fire live - road closed as more than 50 firefighters tackle blaze

A fire has started at a Birmingham factory site engulfing a building and leading to a main Birmingham road being closed. The fire has broken out at the Midland Linen Services building in Warwick Road in Tyseley. West Midlands Fire Service was first called at 7.15am on Easter Sunday (April 20). It initially sent eight fire crews to the scene. The main Warwick Road is partially closed. Traffic information service, Inrix, said: “A41 Warwick Road in both directions partially blocked due to building fire from B4146 Tyseley Hill Road to B4146 Wharfdale Road. Traffic is coping well.” The fire is believed to be in a single-storey building measuring some 100 metres by 40 metres. That building is said to be home to three separate businesses. Some 40 per cent of the building is affected by the blaze. West Midlands Fire Service is advising people to avoid the area and to keep doors and windows closed nearby.
