More info The funeral is set to take place tomorrow of a 31-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in Youghal, Co Cork earlier this week. The family of Daniel (Dan) O’Sullivan have thanked paramedics, members of An Garda Síochana and the staff of Cork University Hospital (CUH) for “their care and attention at such a difficult time.” Mr O’Sullivan sustained injuries last Monday night when a row broke out between him and another man in a pub in Youghal. The emergency services and gardai were called to the scene at about 9.50pm. Dan was taken to CUH where he subsequently died. The native of Carhookeal in Mallow is survived by his mother Aileen, his younger sisters Jessica and Samantha and his partner Ciara. He was predeceased by his grandparents Daniel and Agnes O'Sullivan and his aunt Susie. Mr O’Sullivan is lying in repose at O’Connell’s Funeral Home in Mallow today from 5pm with prayers following an hour later. His requiem mass will take place at the Church of the Resurrection in Mallow tomorrow at 2pm. Burial will follow at St Gobnait's cemetery in the town. Meanwhile, a man appeared in court last Wednesday in Midleton, Co Cork in connection with the incident. Reece Keogh (29) was charged with the murder contrary to Common Law on April 14 last of Daniel O’Sullivan at Tynan’s Bar on North Main Street in Youghal. Mr Keogh also lives on North Main Street. Judge Miriam Walsh remanded Mr Keogh in custody to appear before Fermoy District Court on April 23. He will appear by video link on that occasion. An application for bail cannot be made at district court level when the charge is one of murder. Investigations are ongoing. The scene where the attack occurred has been forensically examined. A postmortem examination took place at CUH. The results of the postmortem have not been released for operational reasons. However, the investigation was upgraded to murder.
