Spring Sports Stars: Who are the top seniors around Saginaw? Our picks, your votes

The 2025 spring sports season is going strong, with Saginaw-area athletes putting up some impressive numbers. But who is the top Saginaw-area senior spring sports athlete? Check out the top Saginaw-area seniors as nominated by their coaches, then vote for their favorite until noon Monday. Alahna Beckett, Midland High soccer Alahna Beckett, a forward, heads into her senior season after earning Division 1 first team all state honors. Beckett was also a Saginaw Valley League first teamer after helping Midland High post a 16-2-3 record. Kelsey Berthiaume, Nouvel soccer Kelsey Berthiaume, a senior midfielder, earned Division 4 all state second team honors after helping Nouvel go 16-5-1, including a regional final loss to Auburn Hills Oakland Christian. Chad Brown, Hemlock baseball Chad Brown led Hemlock to a district title as a junior, reaching a Division 3 regional final in 2024. He was 8-0 with 112 strikeouts and seven walks in 60 2/3 innings with 0.81 earned run average. Brown, also a standout football and basketball player, signed to pitch for the Central Michigan University baseball team. Ally Coffey, Michigan Lutheran Seminary softball Ally Coffey entered her senior season with 800 strikeouts in her career after striking out 304 in 162 innings as a junior. She also hit .603 with 23 doubles, five triples and eight homers with a .655 on-base percentage 1.056 slugging percentage. She stole 13 bases and struck out just nine times. Isabella Curry, Hemlock soccer Isabella Curry, a senior midfielder, has been a key part of Hemlock’s program, helping lead the Huskies to a 15-5-1 record and a district title. Hemlock lost in a regional semifinal to Auburn Hills Oakland Christian. Curry, who has committed to play for Delta College, earned Tri-Valley Conference first team honors. Ivy Davenport, Ithaca softball After earning Second Team Tri-Valley Conference honors as a freshman, Ivy Davenport took First Team honors the last two seasons. In her first 20 innings, Davenport struck out 40 and walked three to earn a 3-1 record. She also hit .538 to start the season. Victoria Garces, Midland Dow track After a dominating cross country season that saw her win the Division 1 state title, Victoria Garces can take aim at the distance events in Division 1 track. Last season, Garces finished second in Division 1 in the 3,200 in 10:21.85) and third in the 1,600 (4:51.28). Hailey Koch, Swan Valley softball Hailey Koch began her senior season hitting .349 with two homers and 30 RBIs. The Swan Valley first baseman earned second team Tri-Valley Conference honors as a junior and is a multi-sport athlete as a member of the Swan Valley girls basketball team. Jenna Kowalski, Freeland softball Jenna Kowalski earned Division 2 all-state honorable mention as a junior after hitting .583 with 43 RBIs and eight homers. Kowalski has committed to play for Northwood University. Sydney Kuhn, Swan Valley track Sydney Kuhn, who has signed to run for the University of Michigan, had an impressive track season as a junior, then followed it with a strong volleyball season in the fall and a dominating indoor track season over the winter. After earning all-American honors in the 400 during the indoor track season, Kuhn has already broken the Swan Valley 100 and 300 hurdles record before focusing on the 200 and 400 events. Caden Tate, Bullock Creek baseball Caden Tate is a career .390 hitter and is his third season on the Bullock Creek varsity. Through the first six games of his senior season, the Bullock Creek center fielder was hitting .615. Tate has also drawn more than 50 walks in his career. Bryce Martin, Millington golf Bryce Martin starred for the Millington state championship football team and was a key player on the Cardinals’ district championship basketball team. Martin is also a top golfer, averaging 74.2 and finishing 12th at the Division 3 state meet as a junior. Lillian Martinez, Hemlock softball Lillian Martinez enters her senior season after committing to play for Valparaiso. Martinez, who also qualified for the state track meet, earned Division 3 All-State First Team honors. Martinez hit .582 with 60 runs scored and 40 RBIs, finishing with five homers and 58 stolen bases while playing outfield, second base, third base and shortstop. Madeline McDonald, Freeland softball Madeline McDonald committed to play for Mid-Michigan College after a strong junior season. The Freeland first baseman hit .459 with 38 RBIs and four homers for the Falcons. Audrey Mueller, Freeland soccer Audrey Mueller was a key player in Freeland’s run to the girls soccer state semifinals in 2024. She earned honorable mention all-Tri-Valley Conferenced as a junior and carries a 3.954 grade point average. Travis Murray, Coleman baseball Travis Murray is a two-time Mid-State Activities Conference First Team honoree heading into his senior season. He owns a career 3.72 earned run average with 235 strikeouts in 133 innings. He started his senior season with a .455 batting average, .647 on-base percentage and .727 slugging percentage. In his first 10 2/3 innings on the mound, Murray struck out 23. Brady Sager, Chesaning baseball Brady Sager was one of the top two-way players in the Mid-Michigan Activities Conference as a junior. He played shortstop when he wasn’t pitching, hitting .490 with 49 runs, 28 RBIs, 33 stolen bases and 14 walks. As a pitcher, Sager was 7-1 with a 0.52 earned run average. He struck out 101 batters and issued 14 walks in 53 2/3 innings. Elizabeth Striebel, Midland High soccer Elizabeth Striebel, a senior midfielder, has committed to play for Michigan Tech after earning Saginaw Valley League first team honors. Striebel, who helped Midland High go 16-2-3 in 2024, was named to the Division 2 all state third team. Truk TerBush, Millington baseball Truk TerBush dominated as a sophomore but battled injuries during his junior season. The Millington quarterback is also a standout pitcher and hitter. As a junior, he played 24 games and hit .338 with three doubles and three triples, scoring 23 runs with 42 stolen bases. On the mound, he threw 46 innings, striking out 77 with two one-hitters. TerBush already owns the Millington career record for wins with 20 and stolen bases with 111. Emma Witbrodt, Frankenmuth soccer Emma Witbrodt, a senior forward, has committed to Northwood University after helping Frankenmuth post a 16-3-4 record, falling to Flint Powers in the district final. Witbrodt was a Tri-Valley Conference first team pick, while earning honorable mention all-state in Division 3.
