TRAGIC LOSS ‘Community in shock’ after teenager killed in scrambler crash named locally as heartbroken family pay tribute A YOUNG man who died in a horror scrambler crash in Dublin on Easter Sunday has been named locally. Jason Monks, who was from Jobstown in west Dublin, sadly passed away at the hospital after the horror crash involving a car and a scrambler motorbike. 3 The tragic incident occurred at around 8pm on Easter Sunday Credit: DAMIEN STORAN 3 Gardai responded to calls of a crash involving a car and a motorbike Credit: DAMIEN STORAN Gardai and emergency services responded to calls of a crash and rushed to the scene at Citywest Avenue at around 8pm on Easter Sunday, April 20. The 18-year-old scrambler driver was rushed to Tallaght Hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital. Gardai confirmed a post-mortem is due to take place at a later time and there were no reports of any other injuries at the scene. The Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have conducted a technical examination of the scene. The road has since been reopened. Dermot Richardson, Independent Councillor for Tallaght-South, told RTE News that Jason's death has sent shockwaves in the local community. He said: "Community is in shock from his death. My condolences to all his family". In an emotional tribute, his mother took to social media and wrote: "O lord please let this be a big bad dream that big strong boy was my baby there was nothing in this world he wouldn't do for his mammy. "My heart is shattered into a million bits I can't cope why my handsome young man why." She added: "My beautiful baby boy how is my life ever going to be the same ever again 18 years of loving you the best 18 years of my life I will love you always my beautiful boy." 'BIGGEST HEART' His partner's grandfather paid tribute to Jason, who was a father, stating how he had "the biggest heart" and an infectious smile that brightened them up during the worst days. He wrote: "Our Granddaughter Shannon lost her partner and our great Granddaughter Everliegh lost her Dad Jason Monks last night, we are heartbroken for them and Jason's family. "A lovely young man with the biggest heart, and a smile and laugh that would cheer you up in the worst of days. A person who would do anything to help anyone who needed it. "We are heartbroken but also smiling when we see the things people have up in Facebook and videos which will help in the coming time. We are all going to miss you. Rip our friend our family. Keep an eye on us all from up there in the clouds." 'ONE OF A KIND' A friend of the heartbroken family has launched a fundraiser on Facebook to help "give Jason the send-off he deserves." She said: "Jason was one of a kind and would do anything for anyone from fixing bikes and lawnmowers cutting grass or any jobs that needed to be done. "He would help anyone and this is how we can help him one last time Jason Monks you are so loved and will be truly missed." A spokesperson for the Gardai has issued an urgent plea for witnesses and those with information about the crash to come forward. GARDAI'S URGENT PLEA They said: "Gardai are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward. "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 7.45pm and 8.15pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
