Vanessa Konopka: Travel influencer dies aged 28 after being bed bound in a Philippines hospital for months

Successful travel influencer Vanessa Konopka has died after battling serious illness for months at a hospital in the Philippines after becoming ill at a party on the island of Boracay. Her heartbroken boyfriend, Fernando, revealed that the German 28-year-old was left unable to speak, eat and walk and spent the last few months of her life bed bound in a Philippines hospital after she was diagnosed with pneumonia and severe liver damage. She and Fernando ran a successful vlog channel called “Happiness Crossing,” which featured pictures and footage of the pair’s travels and more recently, reels of Konopka’s difficult experience in hospital. The pair, who first met in Australia, moved to the island of Boracay in December 2022 and had recently set up a business together — a Brazillian bar called Beach Bar Boracy. Fans from around the world grew increasingly concerned over her health, as recent videos showed her skin turning yellow from jaundice. “Oh My G! What happened to you dear? I’ll be there in Boracay next week. Hope to see you 😊” one friend commented. “Sending prayers 🙏 from London, you’ll be back on the beach again. You are strong. 🙏” another wrote. However, her boyfriend reassured followers that Vanessa’s condition was stable. Camera Icon The popular travel influencer ran a blog called ‘Happiness Crossing’ with her boyfriend Fernando. At the time, Fernando had set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for Konopka to be able to fly back home to Germany in an air ambulance. “I truly beg for any sort of help, financially or not guys. The only thing we need right now is to see Vanessa back on her feet, happy, inspiring, smiling again, no matter what.” he wrote on the GoFundMe page. I will forever love you and we may see each other again,” he added. Camera Icon The 28-year-old German vlogger died on March 7. You left us too soon, and it hurts knowing we won’t have another night of laughter, parties, and chaos around Poblacion like we always planned. You loved Boracay so much—it breaks my heart that it was the last place you saw before saying goodbye.” one friend wrote. “Just learned of your passing. RIP. You made the world brighter.” another commented.
