The terrorists who executed the dastardly Pahalgam attack entered the Kashmir tourist site in a group around 2.20pm and later split into pairs, covering the 400-m space, according to eyewitnesses. A senior official, who spoke with eyewitnesses and families of the victims, revealed that the attackers initially engaged in conversation with the families, who were spread across the site. Subsequently, they forcibly separated the men. After confirming the identities of their targets, they shot them with their AK-47 rifles at point-blank range. Those who attempted to deceive the terrorists regarding their identities were subjected to verification before being killed. Security officials reported that the terrorists questioned the father and son about their identity. Upon discovering they were from Gujarat, the attackers allegedly taunted them: “Now who will save you, Prime Minister Modi?” They then shot them. The victims, Sumit Parmar and his father, Yatesh, were killed in front of their female family members. In another instance, a man attempted to conceal his identity, but was coerced by the terrorists into reciting the Kalma before being executed. Another male family member tried to deceive the attackers, but was stripped of his trousers before being shot. The terrorists remained at the site for a significant duration. Sources suggest they also filmed parts of the attack. According to sources, the terrorists did not make a hasty escape, but walked away briskly from the scene after perpetrating the massacre.
