United States of Birmingham is a three-part Sky series where Joe travels North America to visit other Birminghams, ranging from Birmingham, Alabama to Birmingham, Michigan. Along the way, Joe attempts to get Birmingham leaders to sign 'Friendship Agreements', a way of uniting all Birminghams. Article continues below Speaking to BirminghamLive, he said: "I have a soft spot for all of them, but I have a real soft spot for Birmingham Toledo (Ohio). "We were so lucky we were there at the same time as the Toledo Beer & Bacon Festival. "We got to experience their culture and what they do every year. They celebrate their Hungarian heritage and I had a lot of meat that day. "I was pleasantly surprised by that one because when you walk around Toledo, there isn't much to do. "In the centre, there's no bars or restaurants, but suddenly this day happens every year. "They put out stalls and music and make everything you could possibly think of with bacon, that was a special day." Joe added: "Birmingham Michigan is a complete outlier, it's such a high net worth Birmingham with lots of sports cars and showy people. "That was strange, but even the tiny ones like Birmingham Iowa had such a lovely way about it and they were so proud of their history. "It's not a big place but you've got a lot of people who love it and work really hard to make it what it is.
