The alert comes after a product recall notice was released. The recall is by Damasgate Wholesale for Sofra Potato Chips Seasoning for 100g packs with all best before dates. The warning comes after it was found to contain peanuts not mentioned on the label. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said that as a result, the product “is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts”. The FSA said: "Damasgate Wholesale is recalling Sofra Potato Chips Seasoning because it contains peanuts which are not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts. ‌ "Damasgate Wholesale is recalling the above products from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. According to the NHS, Peanuts are a common cause of food allergy. It is caused when the immune system reacts to the protein found in peanuts. The Express reports that Damasgate Wholesale issued a recall for Sofia Garlic Powder last month due to undeclared peanut. That recall also affected 100g packs with all best before dates. ‌ Sofra products are commonly sold by Middle Eastern grocery stores and online. NHS advice on food allergies The NHS website says "symptoms of a food allergy can affect any part of the body, including different parts of the body at the same time."
