Pahalgam terror attack: Mortal remains of the victims killed in deadly attack arrive at Bengaluru

The mortal remains of the two victims from Karnataka, killed in the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir on Tuesday (April 22, 2025) arrived at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru, in the early hours of Thursday (April 24, 2025), casting a pall of grief over the terminal. A solemn silence descended as the coffins emerged. Tearful family members, friends, and well-wishers gathered in hushed anticipation, unable to contain their sorrow as the remains of Manjunath Rao and Bharath Bhushan were brought back. Also read: Pahalgam terror attack live updates Thirteen bereaved family members, accompanied by Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, had flown in from Kashmir via Delhi. “With deep anguish, I returned to Bengaluru alongside the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack,” said Mr. Surya, who, along with Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna, paid floral tributes at the airport. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah spoke to the grieving families on Wednesday (April 23, 2025), offering his condolences and support. The Karnataka Government has announced an ex gratia of ₹10 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased. Manjunath Rao’s body was transported to his hometown in Shivamogga, while Bharath Bhushan’s mortal remains were taken to his residence in Mathikere. The third victim, Madhusudan Rao, was flown to his native Nellore via Chennai. Sources said the bodies will be kept for a short public viewing at the respective residences before the final rites are performed, allowing friends and neighbors to pay their last respects.
