Bret Baier Reveals Troubling Approval Ratings for President Trump on Fox News

On Thursday's episode of Special Report with Bret Baier, the Fox News anchor delivered eye-opening statistics to viewers regarding President Donald Trumps approval ratings. According to a new Fox News poll that evaluates the first 100 days of the presidents term, Trumps job approval stands at a concerning 44 percent. This figure places him significantly lower in comparison to his predecessors and raises questions about his political standing.
The poll results, which some analysts argue exhibit a Republican-leaning bias, reveal that Trumps approval rating is at a record low in comparison to other presidents. For instance, President Joe Biden currently enjoys a favorable rating of 54 percent, which is ten points higher than Trump. Additionally, former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush recorded even stronger approval ratings at 62 percent and 63 percent respectively during their first 100 days in office. Interestingly, Trumps current approval rating also reflects a decrease from his initial term, where he managed to achieve a slightly higher approval of 45 percent.
Fox News Chief Political Analyst Brit Hume put the situation into perspective, indicating that the presidents approval ratings are negatively impacted by a wide range of issues. Hume remarked, There were a list of issues that we asked people how they felt about, and the president is underwater in all but one and that one is the border. He noted that while the border issue maintains some level of support, other pressing matters weigh heavily on Trumps overall favorability.
Hume elaborated that Trump's ratings are particularly low on topics like the economy and tariffs, stating, Hes way down at the moment on the economy, and even way down further on tariffs, which of course are a part of that. Furthermore, assessments of Trumps foreign policy stance also appear to be lacking, as public sentiment remains critical in that area as well. Hume attributed these low numbers to a combination of factors, noting that they were not really unexpected given the current political climate.
He expressed concern that the slump in approval ratings represents a public reaction to what he termed a work in progress. Hume pointed out that Trump has yet to secure significant trade deals, and uncertainties surrounding tariffs persist, causing anxiety among the populace. The ongoing challenges in foreign policy, particularly the lack of resolution in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which Trump had previously pledged to address, further contribute to the discontent. Theres a lot of work to be completed, Hume concluded.
