The Food Standards Agency published the recall warning on April 25. The product recalled is 'The Best 6 Thick Cumberland Sausages'. The recall notice relates to certain packs with a weight of 400g and use by date of ‘01 May 2025’. The risk statement on the Food Standards Agency (FSA) website reads: “The possible presence of small pieces of blue plastic which makes the product unsafe to eat.” FSA advice to consumers states: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to your nearest store for a refund.” The issue which is reported online will also be displayed at the till in Morrisons stores that have the product on sale. The Food Standards Agency issues notices when products are 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). In some cases, a 'Food Alert for Action' is issued which provides local authorities with details of action to be taken. Government advice generally encourages consumers to report products if they think they are unsafe and could harm people. Their online advice reads: “Unsafe products are sometimes found in the UK despite businesses being legally responsible for all products they make, import, distribute or sell in the UK.” Inside a Morrisons store The most recent Morrisons recall listed on the FSA website was Morrisons Crushed Garlic due to “an ingredient being omitted that prevents microbiological growth.” The FSA works with businesses to issue alerts and inform consumers about recalled products. Food businesses are responsible for recalling products that are unsafe.
