RTE Fair City viewers were all left saying the same thing after a Carraigstown favourite was shot after a heated exchange. Still chasing her hunch about Mark's innocence, Fidelma questioned the veracity of Tyler’s claims. Questioning Tyler further, Buckley and Fidelma were concerned when he revealed that Mark threatened him. More assured in her suspicions of Mark, Fidelma phoned Damien in her pursuit and discovered the hostage situation. Answering the phone, a quick-thinking Damien surreptitiously alerted Fidelma that they’re in McCoys. When Mark discovered Damien’s phone, he went ballistic at his brother, who desperately tried to calm him down. In an attempt to quell the escalating situation, Dean tackled Mark to get the gun, but a shot rang out. At the same time, Fidelma and Buckley arrived at McCoy's to arrest Mark. Amidst the madness, everyone was shocked to discover that Mairead had been shot by the stray bullet. Racing into action, Elaine provided CPR to a deteriorating Mairead while they waited for an ambulance. Shocked by Mairead's injuries, Mark attempted to apologise to his brother, but Damien rejected the apology. Later, Carol, Paul, Pete and Ray were concerned by the severe Garda presence at McCoy's. TYLER'S ARREST And Pete was thrown when Ray informed him that J.J. had sent another "friend" to the garage. While the gang reeled from the revelation of Mairead’s injury, Pete was left reeling from his attempt to break free from J.J., which only pulled him in deeper. Elsewhere in Carraigstown, Gwen and James were delighted at the prospect of a Tyler-free world. However James' joy was short lived as he received short shrift from Joan for his prank with Dolores. While Emma found Joan preparing to go on a romantic mini-break without Rafferty and decided to intervene. Upon learning this, Rafferty called for a meeting to address Joan's problem. After Emma urged Rafferty to save his relationship with Joan, he decided to make a meaningful gesture by prioritising her over his work. Not wanting to scupper the Marketplace deal, Joan agreed to play along with James’s lie for the time being. Finally, James was unsettled when Gwen broke the news of Mark’s confession.
