Filming is expected to commence in September with the cast and crew. The new series will air on BBC One in the UK but will be distributed internationally by streaming giant Netflix - who are also behind the film. Peaky Blinders ran from 2013 to 2022, with the action kicking off in 1919 and spanning the 1920s and 1930s. Cillian Murphy, who features in the new film, could reprise his role as crime boss Thomas Shelby but as a "father figure" to younger gang members, The Sun claims. This would mirror the role of his aunt Polly Gray, portrayed by the late Helen McCrory. Article continues below In the wake of the TV series finale, Knight teased fans with prospects of a resurgence.
