Famous kebab chain GDK is sending its staff out onto the streets on April 30 to hand out hundreds of its new Doner Rice Bowls free of charge. The new rice bowls are designed to give customers a healthier lunch option, made up of the brand's signature doner meat, spiced basmati rice, fresh salad and a choice of sauces, with 58g of protein packed into each bowl. Read more: Birmingham shop loved by celebrities announces closure in 'difficult decision' The giveaway celebrates the shop's latest menu launch while continuing GDK's efforts to change the public's perception of kebabs as a 'just a night time fast food dish'. Article continues below To claim a free bowl, bypassers will need to look out for the GDK street team who will be stationed around New Street, Moor Street and the Bullring Shopping Centre in the morning and early afternoon. Article continues below The lucky 500 will also get to personalise their bowl, with a choice of doner meat or plant-based alternative, fragrant rice, fresh salad and a choice of yogurt, garlic or spicy sauce. GDK, known for inventing the viral 'pink kebab', now also has a full plant-based doner range on its menu, as well as a breakfast doner option and halal-friendly dishes. This giveaway will take place in Birmingham on Wednesday, April 30 between 7.30am and 9.30am and then from 11.30am and 2.30pm only.
