Jaipur, India In a remarkable display of talent and poise, fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has etched his name in cricket history by becoming the youngest centurion in mens Twenty20 cricket. Playing for the Rajasthan Royals, Suryavanshi guided his team to a commanding eight-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match held in Jaipur on Monday night.

Suryavanshi unleashed his batting prowess by demolishing the Gujarat bowling attack, scoring a staggering 101 runs off just 38 balls. His innings included an astonishing 11 sixes and 7 fours, leading the Royals to chase down an imposing target of 209 runs in just 15.5 overs.

The young left-hander reached his century in just 35 balls, achieving the second-fastest century in IPL history. This phenomenal achievement came during a scintillating opening partnership with fellow batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, where the duo put together a mammoth 166-run stand, showcasing a blend of aggression and skill.

It is a very good feeling. Its my first hundred in the IPL and its my third innings. The result has shown here after the practice before the tournament, said Suryavanshi, who was named the Player of the Match. Reflecting on his remarkable achievement, he added, I just see the ball and play. It has been a dream to get a hundred in the IPL, and today, it materialized. There is no fear. I dont think much; I just focus on playing.

Suryavanshis century is particularly significant as it surpassed the record for the fastest hundred by an Indian in the IPL, previously held by Yusuf Pathan, who scored a century in 37 balls for Rajasthan against the Mumbai Indians in 2010. Pathan himself congratulated the young star on social media, saying, Many congratulations to young Vaibhav Suryavanshi for breaking my record of the fastest IPL hundred by an Indian. Even more special to see it happen while playing for Rajasthan Royals, just like I did.

Before making headlines in the IPL, Suryavanshi became the youngest player to secure a contract in the lucrative league at the tender age of 13. He made his debut this month and quickly made an impact, hitting a six off the very first ball he faced. His cricketing journey is also impressive; he participated in the domestic Ranji Trophy red-ball competition at just 12 years old and represented Indias Under-19 squad against Australia, where he scored a remarkable century in just 58 balls. Additionally, he showcased his talent by scoring a triple hundred in a local tournament in his home state of Bihar.

This victory over the Gujarat Titans is crucial for the Rajasthan Royals, who were positioned eighth in the IPL standings prior to this match. The win also ended a daunting five-game losing streak for the 2008 champions, revitalizing their campaign in the tournament.
