All Stars 10: Which group is the best at Drag Race?

The eighteen strong All Stars 10 cast is split into three sickening groups – but which group of legendary queens has the strongest track records, best placements and most competitive episodes? At first glance, the All Stars 10 groups are fairly evenly balanced; Each bracket has one queen on their third or fourth trip to the Werk Room (Aja, Jorgeous and Ginger Minj) and season fourteen is split evenly across them, with two queens from the season per group. But when it comes down to it, which group should we be looking out for? Which All Stars 10 bracket comes with the most challenge wins? The most cumulative episodes competed on? The most previous lip-syncs? A few disclaimers before we start; episode count means episodes that the queens had a hand in the competition in; for example, season 14’s split premiere will mean Kerri was only in 1 of those episodes, but because Lydia voted in her ‘off-episode’ from the start of season 17, that counts as two. Lip-syncs also include any lip-sync assassin appearances, lip-syncs for the win, lalaparuzas and lip-syncs for the crown. And challenge wins only count if the All Stars queen won the subsequent lip-sync – so Aja, who placed in the top two for the first episode of All Stars 3 but lost the lip-sync to BenDeLaCreme would still have 0 wins (sorry, Aja). And with that, in the name of data journalism and RuPaul, here’s how each All Stars 10 bracket stacks up. Orange: Aja, Bosco, Deja Skye, Irene the Alien, Olivia Lux, Phoenix The range of episodes competed in for team orange is pretty big. We’ve got two early outs, one finalist, and some classics mid-season exits here – but even Aja’s season 9 (7) and All Stars 3 (6) appearances don’t do much to bolster the total here. That means the orange bracket have 55 episodes (Aja; 13, Bosco; 14, Deja; 12, Irene; 2, Olivia, 12; Phoenix; 2) between them – and Irene has two because she was in both parts of season 15’s double premiere episode. Team orange have a healthy 6 challenge wins going into All Stars 10. Bosco leads the pack with 3, Olivia has 2, Deja has 1. Full stop. And for orange’s lip-syncs, including Aja’s turn as a lip-sync assassin on AS8, the group have performed a total of only 15 times, with a surprisingly low 6 wins. That’s 40%. Episode count – 55 Challenge wins – 6 Lip-sync win percentage – (Aja; 3 (1 win), Bosco; 4 (1 win), Deja; 2 (1 win), Irene; 1 (0 wins) , Olivia, 4 (3 wins); Phoenix; 1 (0 wins) – 35%. Pink: Jorgeous, Kerri Colby, Lydia B. Kollins, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Nicole Paige Brooks, Tina Burner Pint-sized powerhouse Jorgeous has infamously done double duty on All Stars, meaning she’s pulling up the competitive episode count for the pink group quite heavily with a previous 24 episodes – not least, because All Stars 9 was non-elimination. That means that pink team are coming in hot with 70 instalments between them (Jorgeous; 24, Kerri; 7, Lydia; 12, Mistress; 15, Nicole; 2, Tina; 10). They’re coming in less hot with challenge wins, though. Jorgeous has one each from both of her first seasons, and Lydia and Mistress have one each, too – totalling 4. This group has also done a lot of lip-syncs (Jorgeous holds the record on the cast with 9), because seasons 14, 15, 17 and All Stars 9 all had a lip-sync smackdown of some description. The group hold the most cumulative lip-sync performances of All Stars 10 – 21 in total, with 12 wins (including Jorgeous’s loss to LaLa Ri on AS8). That’s 57%, the highest percentage of the three groups. Episode count – 70 Challenge wins – 4 Lip-sync win percentage – Jorgeous; 9 (5 wins), Kerri; 2 (1 win), Lydia; 5 (3 wins), Mistress; 2 (2 wins), Nicole; 1 (0 wins), Tina; 2 (1 win) – 57% Purple: Acid Betty, Alyssa Hunter, Cynthia Lee Fontaine, Daya Betty, Denali, Ginger Minj Disclaimer for the purple group: A lot of heavy lifting has been done for this group’s track record by fourth time returnee Ginger Minj, who competed on season 7, All Stars 2 and 6 before this season. That means that before All Stars 10 starts, Ginger has competed in 30 episodes of Drag Race by herself. Along with the rest of the group, and factoring in Cynthia’s double duty on season 8 and 9, that brings team purple’s collective episodes up to also 69 (Acid; 5, Alyssa; 3, Cynthia; 8, Daya; 14, Denali; 9, Ginger; 30). Ginger is also responsible for 5 out of 7 challenge wins for team purple. Daya and Denali hold one each from their first go around. And lip-sync wise, the group has competed in a total of 19 and won 9. That’s a win rate of 47% – pretty good odds. Episode count – 69 Challenge wins – 7 Lip-sync win percentage – Acid; 1 (0 win), Alyssa; 1 (0 win), Cynthia; 3 (1 win), Daya; 4 (2 wins), Denali; 5 (3 wins), Ginger; 5 (3 wins) – 47% Which All Stars 10 group is the strongest? So there you have it – there’s no clear cut answer. Team pink hold the record for the most competitive episodes between them (70), but only one more than purple (69), with orange a good way behind (55) Purple has got the most challenge wins, with 7, but orange has 6 and pink has 4. And when we throw lip-sync wins into the mix, it’s actually pink who take the lead with a 57% win rate. Purple have 47% and orange 35%. That means that while pink take the lead in two categories, it’s last in one – and though purple is second in two categories, it’s first in two. But, given that Jorgeous and Lydia B. Kollins are both on team pink and RuPaul famously pees for them both, we’d have to give it to them. But make no mistake; Previous contestants with low placements have come back and demolished the competition and finalists have flopped. All Stars 10 is anyone’s game.
