New Exeter McDonald's from the air as site takes shape

Spectacular footage shows off the amount of work going on to build Exeter's brand new McDonald's. Progress is accelerating on the drive-through takeaway, not far from the Tesco supermarket on Russell Way in Digby. Plans were approved in August 2024 for a single-storey McDonald’s restaurant with a drive-thru, seating for 79 customers, four parking bays, two of which will be accessible, three electric vehicle charging points, two grill bays, four bike stands and overall provision of eight cycle spaces. The proposals were given the green light despite concerns about anti-social behaviour and 'boy racers' revving engines at night and keeping locals awake. But councillors were told that there were no planning grounds on which to turn the application down, and there would be 30 conditions imposed which would cover most of the issues raised. Video taken by Warren Radmore show a giant crane on site and other machinery required to bring the venue to life with fencing in place around the build. The fast food giant is on the look out now for prospective employees at the EX2 7EZ branch - the first in the eastern side of the city. Salaries are being advertised on banners off the Tesco car park. For over 18s the rates are £12.26 per hour and for under 18s it's 9.52 per hour.
