More info Drivers in north Cornwall are set to face a lengthy diversion as roadworks are carried out on busy A-road near Camelford. A nearly 50-mile diversion route will be put in place while utility works take place. It comes as South West Water plans to undertake the repair and maintenance works along the A39 Victoria Road in Camelford next month. The road closure will be in place for 24 hours a day, including weekends, from May 6 to May 16. The works will take place on the section of Victoria Road between the junctions of Trefrew Road and Oakwood Rise. Despite the closure being roughly 0.2 miles long, drivers will face around a 45-mile diversion route, adding over an hour to travel times. Cornwall Council has confirmed that emergency access will be maintained throughout the closure. All traffic, including bicycles, will temporarily be restricted from using the route. The planned diversion route will see drivers redirected along the A39 to Wadebridge and then towards Bodmin. Drivers will then need to follow the A30 into Launceston before travelling along the A395 past Davidstow and back into Camelford.
