More info Manchester United are hoping to sign Matheus Cunha this summer. Should they get the deal over the line, there will inevitably be players who benefit from his signing more than others. Cunha is pushing for a move to United. The Wolves playmaker is enjoying an impressive season having already scored 14 goals, surpassing last season’s tally of 12. Wolves manager Vítor Pereira uses the same 3-4-2-1 formation that Amorim is wedded to, and so it's hoped Cunha wouldn't take too long to settle should he move to Old Trafford. Alejandro Garnacho has been a regular in one of United's two No.10 positions since Amorim’s arrival, with Mason Mount struggling for game time despite being back from injury. Antony and Jadon Sancho are both currently out on loan and are expected to leave at the end of the season. Amad was enjoying a strong run of form as a No.10 before picking up an injury and, if he's not used on the wing by Amorim as he was during his early days at the club, Amad is a shoo-in to take one of the two No.10 roles. Amorim is expected to drop Bruno Fernandes back into midfield alongside Manuel Ugarte, meaning Amad and Cunha would likely take up the two playmaker roles. That would obviously be bad news for Mount and Garnacho. And then there's the question of Kobbie Mainoo. Amorim clearly believes the youngster's future is in one of the more advanced roles in the team, but does he start ahead of Amad or Cunha? It's not all bad news for the United squad, with plenty of players set to benefit from his arrival should he complete a move to Old Trafford. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, should they still be at the club, would definitely benefit from Cunha's arrival. It's unfair to say the pair haven't had enough service this season as, the truth is, neither have looked good enough when they have been given the chances. However, having a natural No.10 behind them who can create more chances would definitely give them a boost. Fernandes would also benefit from Cunha's arrival. With Garnacho struggling for consistency and Amad sidelined since February, the creative burden at United has almost been placed solely on Fernandes. When Fernandes struggles, United struggle, leading to some unnecessary criticism given his fine form for this season. There's no question that the signing of Cunha would improve United and plenty of players would benefit, but adding him to the team would also give Amorim a few selection headaches. That's not necessarily a bad thing.
