The group shot to fame across TikTok, with their versions of ‘Misty Mountain’, ‘Nancy Mulligan’ and ‘Hoist the Colours’ racking up billions of views. This will be only the second time the 6.4-acre fortified island has hosted a music event, following its £6 million purchase in 2019 by Morgan Phillips, who previously expressed plans to host “bespoke” musical concerts there this summer. An event spokesman said: “Set in the heart of Plymouth Sound, Drake’s Island provides a breathtaking and historic setting for an unforgettable night of music. As the sun sets over the horizon, audiences will be transported by the rich harmonies and rousing rhythms that have made The Wellermen a global sensation. “This exclusive event offers the perfect opportunity for fans old and new to immerse themselves in the magic of live music, surrounded by the beauty of the ocean.” “With limited capacity, this promises to be an intimate and atmospheric performance like no other.” Guests can enjoy a selection of bars, food vendors, and refreshment stalls throughout the island, and the event is family-friendly, with children welcome.
