All-Ireland champions Armagh bid to reach their third successive Ulster final at the expense of their rivals and neighbours Tyrone this evening. The counties dominated Gaelic Football in Ulster and beyond for a period in the noughties and, following a lull in the rivalry during a barren spell for both sides, the standing of both teams will ensure today’s game is a keenly-contested affair. The Red Hands won their fourth All-Ireland title in 2021, but have struggled to regain that form in the Championship arena since. Meanwhile, Armagh captured the Sam Maguire for a second time in their history last season and are now the team with a target on their back. While today’s game isn’t knockout football, Tyrone would nearly love to knock Armagh off their perch, in the provincial series at least. Recent form would favour Kieran McGeeney’s men as they had eight points to spare for Malachy O’Rourke’s side in the League with Tyrone losing their Division One status. Tyrone remain the last team to inflict a Championship defeat on Armagh inside 70 minutes following their two-point victory in Omagh in 2023.
