Flood warning issued for Mississagi River near Iron Bridge

Residents warned of potential flooding after water levels surge at a nearby dam Residents along a river that runs through Iron Bridge are being warned about possible flooding as waters rise at a dam northwest of the town. The Municipality of Huron Shores says it has been advised that river flows at the Red Rock Dam have exceeded a warning threshold due to watershed conditions. As a result, a flood warning is now in effect for properties along the Mississagi River, particularly in low-lying or flood-prone areas. "Residents should remain alert and take precautionary steps to protect property and personal safety," the municipality said in a release. Residents were advised that with additional rain in the forecast, water levels may continue to rise. "Help us by sharing this message and stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops," the municipality urged. "Even if this is part of a typical spring pattern, conditions can change quickly." "We urge everyone to exercise care around riverbanks, trails, and tourist areas." "High water and fast-moving currents pose a serious risk, even in familiar locations. Please keep children and pets away from the water’s edge." Residents were also encouraged to check in on neighbours, especially those new to the area who may not be aware of past flooding events.
