A section of the A5 near Shifnal in Shropshire will close for resurfacing works starting next month in May. ‌ The closure will be in place from Crackleybank to Pickmere Roundabout, Sheriffhales, from Thursday, May 8, until Tuesday, June 10. The A5 faces day closures starting next month (Image: Shropshire Council ) The local authority has asked drivers not to park on the road in the day while the work takes place. ‌ A spokesperson for Shropshire Council said: "The A5 Crackley Bank to Pickmere Island, Sheriffhales is to be resurfaced from Thursday, May 8 to Tuesday, June, 10. "During the work, the road will be closed from 9.30am to 4pm on weekdays only. "During the closures a signed diversion will be place – and access/egress for properties and businesses within the closure will be maintained when safe to do so. ‌ "Depending on their vehicle type, road users may be able to choose an alternative diversion route. "People are asked not to park on the road during the day whilst the work is in progress. All planned roadworks are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. The council added access to the works area will be restricted to local residents who live in the road closure, businesses based in the closure, pedestrians, dismounted cyclists, horse riders and emergency vehicles.
