Anfield is bouncing and these 26 photos show it

The atmosphere is building at Anfield as fans hope they will see Liverpool crowned as champions today. Arne Slot's side will win the league if they avoid defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in today's 4.30pm kick-off. Thousands of fans are around the ground and in the pubs in what has been described as 'wild' scenes 'like never before'. The job isn't done yet, but fans believe today will be the day that they get the chance to celebrate with the team that will be champions. In the city centre, more supporters have gathered, with pubs and bars full of fans hoping to celebrate the historic day. A victory today would see Slot win the league title in his first season at Anfield and it would be the club's second league title in five seasons after Jurgen Klopp led Liverpool to a first title in 30 years. Last weekend's 1-0 win over Leicester City, thanks to a goal from Trent Alexander-Arnold, put the Reds on the verge of going level with Manchester United for the most league titles with 20. Despite potentially clinching the title today, fans will have to wait until Sunday, May 25, to see Virgil van Dijk lift the trophy in front of fans - something that wasn't possible in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
