More info Those aged between 20 and 25 could receive a free rail card that last four years. The travel card, worth £100, could be obtained through Santander bank and only requires you to put away £50 in a savings account and keeping it there for a short amount of time. Furthermore, the trick is available to anyone aged between 20 and 25 so long as they have one particular type of account with Santander. MoneySavingExpert's Martin Lewis issued his advice on how people can obtain the railcard through social media. He noted that people should take advantage of the offer while it is still available as it could be pulled due to high demand. Speaking on X, he said: "This is specifically for people aged 20 to 25 on the 30th of June this year. And the railcard that you can get is a free four-year, what used to be called a young person's railcard, now a 16 to 25 railcard and if you bought it yourself it would cost you £100. "Now you can do this as long as you're a UK resident and Santander hasn't given you the railcard freebie before., which it only would have done if you had the Santander student bank account. This isn't just for students though, this is for anyone aged 20 to 25." How to claim the Santander railcard In order to be eligible for the free railcard, you will first need to grab a Santander savings account or ISA. This can include its easy-access saver account or one-year fixed cash ISA. You will also need to register for either Santander's online or mobile banking by the end of May which can be quickly done through their website here. Once you have done that, you need to put at least £50 into the savings account or ISA and keep the money in that account until June 30, 2025. After this point, you will receive a message on your online or mobile banking account by June 16 which will include a code that will allow you to redeem the railcard through the Santader Railcard website. Martin also issued a warning over the offer, stating: "What could go wrong? Well one, it could pull the offer. Two, your savings may not track. "But the truth is your putting your money into a savings account with a really big bank, the worst comes to the worst you take your money out and you've not lost anything apart from the opportunity cost of being able to spend that £50 meantime." Further details on the scheme as well as any updates can be found through Santander here.
