Virginia Giuffre dead at 41 as family say toll of abuse 'became to much' Virginia Giuffre, who was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein when she was a teenager, has died, her family have confirmed Virginia Giuffre in 2019 (Image: PA ) Virginia Giuffre, a survivor of Jeffrey Epstein's sexual abuse who "pushed so hard to snuff the evil out of the world" has died, her family confirmed today. Described as "a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse" by her devastated relatives, Virginia took her own life at her farm in Neergabby, Western Australia, her family said. As a teenager, she was trafficked by Epstein and also alleged that she was sexually abused by Prince Andrew, an accusation the Royal has vehemently denied. In a statement released today, Virginia's family said: "It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia. She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking. "Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors. In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight." The 41 year old gained prominence when she publicly disclosed her allegations and demanded charges against the late financier Epstein, reports the Mirror. Her brother, Danny Wilson, spoke to NBC News about her relentless pursuit of justice, saying she "pushed so hard to snuff the evil out" of the world. He added: "Her biggest push was: 'If I don't do this, nobody's going to do it. She was in real physical pain - suffered from renal failure. But I think that the mental pain was worse." Ms Giuffre's publicist, Dini von Mueffling, released a statement saying: "Deeply loving, wise and funny, she was a beacon to other survivors and victims. She adored her children and many animals. She was always more concerned with me than with herself. I will miss her beyond words. It was the privilege of a lifetime to represent her." Epstein, 66, who was facing sex trafficking charges, took his own life in a New York jail in August 2019. The convicted sex offender, believed to have had over 200 victims, was found unresponsive in his cell. Virginia, who is survived by three children, later alleged that she was sexually abused by Prince Andrew at the request of Epstein's associate, the imprisoned British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, when she was just 17. However, these allegations have been denied by both the Duke of York and Maxwell, who is also a convicted sex offender. Virginia, hailing from Sacramento, California, was among the first to demand criminal charges against Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplices. Her activism played a pivotal role in providing law enforcement with key details that led to Ghislaine Maxwell's conviction; Maxwell is reportedly languishing in a "rat-infested" jail after receiving a 20-year sentence in 2021. The abuse Virginia suffered at the hands of Epstein began when she was just 16 in 1999 and spanned three years, as per her own accounts. Epstein, a well-connected financier, counted numerous influential individuals among his associates, including Prince Andrew. Despite the controversy surrounding his ties to Epstein, the 65 year old Duke has consistently denied any sexual involvement with Virginia. In November 2019, amidst growing scrutiny, Prince Andrew stated: "It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family's work and the valuable work going on in the many organisations and charities that I am proud to support. "Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission. I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein." Virginia recently took to Instagram, sharing harrowing images from a hospital bed following a car accident, revealing that doctors had given her only days to live. She explained that her vehicle was struck by a school bus moving at 110km/h (68mph), resulting in kidney failure. A photo she posted showed visible bruising on her face and chest. Virginia spent approximately one week in the hospital receiving treatment for her injuries sustained in the collision near Perth, Australia. In a distressing update on Instagram, Virginia described enduring "the worst start to a new year". Her attorney spoke to the press, describing her condition as "a very bad situation".
